Creative Market has fast become my go-to place for designs. As the name suggests, it’s a marketplace where designers offer their resources for purchase, or free download. These resources include fonts, graphics, photos, kits for specific purposes (eg logo design) and big collections of any combination of these.
Each week, a new selection of free resources becomes available (for that week only) at https://creativemarket.com/free-goods. These tend to be seasonally themed and to include a typeface or two as well as at least one graphic set, such as the Scandinavian Christmas set shown in the picture above. These freebies are only available for the week so it makes sense to check back regularly.
The resources can then be downloaded and imported into a graphics package – the description of each will explain which packages they’ve been designed for but most are compatible with Photoshop or Illustrator and also, for most design resources, the .svg format that you can open in the free Inkscape editor.
These resources are a tiny selection of what’s available and prices across Creative Market tend to be very reasonable. It’s a great place to find inspiration and to take the strain off your own design skills.
My only caveat is to make sure you fully understand the licensing terms . For resources other than fonts, you’re generally buying a licence for a single project (although the definition of “project” is pretty broad) – I recommend reading through the licensing terms before you buy.
Note: if you click the links above and subsequently buy from Creative Market, I receive a 10% commission. This costs you nothing extra but helps fund YourCraftBusiness. I’m a fan, and customer, of Creative Market independently of this and it doesn’t influence my recommendation.
